Organic shampoo does not foam and makes the hair straw-like? Sorry, but that is nonsense! These 5 natural hair care products are really good
If there is a beauty trend right now, then it is very clear: pure nature! More and more people only want to put things on their skin that they would theoretically eat.
The environmental aspect is also becoming (fortunately!) More and more important. Only when it comes to hair is natural cosmetics a complicated matter. That's why we took a closer look at a few organic shampoos. Here are our observations.
Is organic shampoo better for your hair?
No question about it, organic shampoo is definitely a better choice for the environment. When you wash out, you do not flush microplastics or silicones down the drain. So the groundwater is not polluted. But natural shampoo is also beneficial for the hair.
"Natural organic shampoos"clean the hair with the assistance of delicate and dermatologically well-tolerated surfactants, supported sugars or amino acids, that clean the hair gently and completely. Instead of chemical fragrances, only natural perfumes are in the products," explains Dr. Henrike Neuhoff, Head of Science at Lavera, adds: "Instead of silicones, only natural vegetable oils, proteins, peptides, amino acid derivatives and plant extracts are used for the care effect."
Of course, it is important not to be misled by marketing tricks and to buy a product that only pretends to be natural. Interesting about this: This is how you recognize real natural cosmetics .
Which organic shampoo is the best?
"I would like to switch to organic shampoo, but that just makes my hair so strawy and I can't comb it at all," many complain after a few attempts. Do you feel like that too? Unfortunately, we sometimes made that determination during our test. Fortunately, a few products convinced us completely.
Which organic shampoos are recommended?
Among the organic shampoos that we tried, there were some that really impressed us. We can actually recommend these 5 products with a clear conscience:
1. WOW Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Hair Conditioner Set
Above all, do you want more fullness in your hair? Then the "Volume & Strength Care Shampoo" from Wow is just right for you. The formula with organic avocado ,coconut oil and aloe vera strengthens limp spaghetti hair and gives it more grip. Even so, the shampoo doesn't tangle the hair as much as other volume products.
This is probably due to the fact that there are no lauryl sulfates in it (they have a drying effect). Thanks to sugar surfactants, the shampoo foams wonderfully and is easy to distribute. Short hair can be combed well after washing, even without rinsing. For longer hair, we recommend adding a little bit of conditioner to the tips.
Professional tip for more root volume: After washing the top hair, pull strand by strand vertically away from the head with a brush and blow against the roots with the blow dryer.
2. Tea Tree Special Shampoo, For All Hair Types
Your hair is stressed from frequent dyeing and needs intensive care that no organic shampoo was able to provide until now? Then the natural hairdressing care from tea tree is just right for you. Top colorists like Andreas Kurkowitz from Berlin also use it to care for the hair of celebrity customers.
Admittedly, 31 $ for a shampoo and again the same amount for the associated conditioner is a proud price. Fortunately, you really only need very small amounts: a blob the size of a hazelnut is enough to thoroughly massage the roots. Because the shampoo lathers so well, it spreads itself into the rest of the hair.
After washing out, the hair feels surprisingly smooth for a natural shampoo. The fact that this works without silicones is probably due to the oils it contains from the Amazon region. Sounds very rich, definitely also provides intensive care, but really hardly weighs down for repair care. Nevertheless, we would recommend the corresponding conditioner (makes even broken bleached hair super supple and easy to comb) only to be incorporated from ear level so that the natural volume is retained.
3. Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner SLS Sulfate Free, for Damaged, Dry
Your hair is neither excessively damaged nor particularly fine or greasy? You don't want to spend huge sums on your shampoo, but still don't want to leave a cheap chemical club on your head? Then be sure to try Sante's gloss shampoo. It smells wonderfully of coconut, foams well and makes your hair squeaky clean.
If you have long or damaged hair, you should definitely use a conditioner afterwards, otherwise combing it will be a bit difficult. After all, it does not contain any plasticizers such as silicones. Psst: The corresponding gloss conditioner from Sante allegedly also uses Pamela Reif and if she has one thing besides great muscles, then it's beautiful and, above all, incredibly long hair (by the way, no extensions, we asked her).
4. PURA D'OR Biotin Original Gold Label Anti-Thinning Shampoo & Conditioner Set
In contrast to many conventional anti-dandruff shampoos, the organic shampoo against dandruff does not contain strong surfactants. That has two advantages. First: The scalp is not dried out and irritated unnecessarily. If that happens, more dandruff often occurs. And secondly, the hair is also stressed less and does not dry out as much.
The head feels nice and soft after use, but by no means weighed down. Itching on the scalp subsides significantly after just a few days of use. And: the approaches no longer grease so quickly. The pleasant herbal fragrance is very subtle, but remains noticeable in the hair until the next wash.
5.J·R·LIGGETT'S All-Natural Shampoo Bar, Jojoba and Peppermint Formula-Supports Strong and Healthy HairNo plastic packaging and no water for production: this bar of soap for the hair is particularly resource-efficient. The ingredients also score points: instead of silicone, it contains glossy broccoli seed oil. It's true, at the beginning you have to get used to the application. But if you have the right technique, the hair wash bar is just as easy to use as a normal liquid shampoo. Is hair soap the better shampoo? We'll tell you here.
There are two possible uses: either massage directly with the bar of soap over the hair and scalp, or lather the product between the hands beforehand and only then apply it to the hair (feels more like washing with normal shampoo). The hair becomes super clean, but doesn't feel dull at all compared to other hair soaps. If you have long hair, we would definitely recommend the accompanying conditioner bar, so combing is much easier.
Our test shows: Natural shampoos care for your hair at least as well as conventional products - but they are often more skin-friendly and better for the environment. So: Shop now the shampoo that suits your hair type and do something good for your mane and the environment.
